The horrors of the Cold War have not been erased from the memory of the world. For the last century, this war of nerves has been a terrible curse for mankind. The tensions between the United States and its allies in the aftermath of World War II, and the then-Soviet Union and its allies, have always been a source of concern to the world, known as the Cold War.

The whole world is indirectly involved in the conflict between the two superpowers due to the tension in the relationship. The world is divided into different camps. There are many regional conflicts. These conflicts gave rise to many wars.

The seeds of the Cold War were sown in the context of the First World War. When the Soviet Union miraculously collapsed in the late 1980s, the Cold War changed its form and came to a standstill. However, Russia, one of the largest states in the former Soviet Union, emerged as an independent state and carried on the legacy of the Cold War. However, the Cold War was much more hidden. In the meantime, China has emerged as the equivalent superpower of the United States, surpassing the military and economic capabilities in the global arena. This changed the center of gravity of the Cold War.

The conflict between the two superpowers on various global issues

However, US President Joe Biden recently said that the United States does not want to engage in any kind of cold war with China. But no observer can be convinced. Even UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres could not contain his concerns. Speaking at the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations on September 21, 2021, Guterres called on the United States and China not to engage in any conflict or Cold War. He made it clear that any kind of war of nerves between the two superpowers would plunge the world into a catastrophic crisis over climate change.

Competition and conflict over technology

Most recently, a bill was passed in the US Senate to address China's so-called 'technology threat'. One of the measures the bill calls for to address China's technology threat is to ban the download of the Tick Tock app on US government devices. Another significant restriction of the bill is not to purchase drones from Chinese government-sponsored companies.

With the passage of this bill in the Senate, it was approved in principle that the United States would be hundreds of miles away from any technology that has the name of China involved. With the passage of such a bill in the Senate, the reality of the Cold War with China has been acknowledged.

Dispute over the South China Sea

China has always claimed its sovereignty over the entire South China Sea. In July 2021, China deployed three new warships, including an amphibious attack ship, in the South China Sea. The Chinese news agency Global Times reported in July that the ships were the first Type 075 amphibious attack ship, a large destroyer, and a nuclear-powered strategic ballistic missile. The United States has strongly condemned the incident. But China is reluctant to take into account US protests and concerns.
